Course introduction

The course is divided in n. 2 modules: the first provides an overview of the definition of the Green skills and the impact on the  health sector analysing 3 elements: the building, the service delivered, the people, both the Healthcare workforce and the patients. The goal is to understand the environmental impact of the Hospitals with the aim to sensitise all the actors (at national and local level) on the effect of their action, with the objective to understand the importance of a develop a sustainable strategy within the health organisation that ensures a good quality of healthcare, with the minimum environmental impact.  

The second module, composed by 4 lessons,  is characterised by the analysis of 4 case studies related to some international hospital experiences in the following fields:  food, water, energy and transport, to show some practical example on the  implementation of green projects to explain how the HCWF can act in their daily work life to reduce the environmental impact of the health sector.

Module 2 entitled “Practical example on Green skills application in the health sector”, provides practical examples through case studies in the following fields:  Food through the Project Sustainability and health; Sustainable Medical Transport, Water Reduction Strategies and the Environmental Impact of Radiology.
