The goal of this module is for the students to acquire knowledge to be able to practically uncover and carry out practical exercises related to waste reduction, primarily food waste at their own production units.

General competence
  • The candidate can plan and implement circular economy development projects in their own organization
  • The candidate can contribute to new thinking about how leadership can be exercised to establish, maintain and/or change sustainable practices in organizations
  • The candidate can apply principles in change management to facilitate that the production and product are optimized for collection, sorting, recycling and energy recovery
Knowledge
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement effective waste management strategies that minimize environmental impact and support circular economy principles.
  • Understand the fundamental concepts of waste hierarchy, recycling processes, and regulations pertaining to waste management in both local and global contexts.
  • Apply diagnostic tools and techniques to evaluate waste streams, identify opportunities for waste reduction, and design actionable plans for sustainable waste management practices in agricultural settings.
Skills
  • Can apply different perspectives and concepts within waste management to identify challenges, change needs and relevant measures for organizations
  • The candidate can keep up to date on new knowledge in circular production.

Cicular Economy and Sustainability

Understanding Waste from Agricultural Crops

Module 2. The module has focus on learning the students about how to remove waste in the production and supply chain. Introduction to types of waste from cereals, oilseeds and grapes. Be able to assess the potential of the crops as animal feed and soil improver or used for biogas or bioenergy.

Innovation in the Value and Supply Chain

Module 3. The module focus on innovation solutions for waste reduction and who you can cooperate with. Lesson 3 involve the students in an exercise related to circular innovation in their own company.
