The EFN online course has a total of 9 lessons, providing an introduction to the EU policy context of planetary health, what planetary health encompasses, and delving deeper into planetary health education and interdisciplinary collaboration. It offers practical ideas for integrating planetary health principles into daily nursing practice. This includes empowering healthy lifestyles through nutrition and physical activity, offering guidance on environmental health risks, and preparing for crises. It explores quality assurance in the context of planetary health and examine the environmental impact of healthcare, including methods for analysis and reduction. Finally, it addresses wider advocacy, cooperation, and communication concerning planetary health.
The objective of this course is to help the learner (nurses, students, etc.) understand the relevance of green skills and planetary health for nursing, providing an overview of how the environment influences health and how healthcare, in turn, impacts the environment, and how to empower both patients and fellow healthcare professionals toward healthier lifestyles and self-care in a green/planetary context. This online course is aimed at all ‘lifelong learners’, especially frontline nurses, and is intended as an advanced Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course.
